STAGES IN THE PROJECT AND RESEARCH

The first stage of our work was devoted to creating the
document-filling program and to defining investigation methods. We collected sample documents of various type, such as to allow us to account for as wide a range of materials as
possible.
Then we went on testing the program, in order to define the details of our database and reach its final version.
The second stage in our work has been devoted to the creation of about a thousand files, allowing us to start a research focussed on some central issues; in so doing we often managed to find information directing our investigation in institutions outside
Mantua.

The project aims at collecting reproductions of the original
documents, so as to offer any interested scholar an opportunity to study such
reproductions, whose originals are held in a variety of
archives, at our Centre.
While the cooperation with
competent scholars in the field is to be hoped for, not less
vital for us is any information about bibliographic sources
which may help us to locate documents in other archives.
